Gannawarra Shire Council has been announced as a Silver Award recipient for its 2018 Annual Report at the Australasian Reporting Awards, held last night in Melbourne.

The Australasian Reporting Awards are open to all organisations in Australia, New Zealand and countries in the Asia-Pacific Region and enable organisations to benchmark their reports against world best practice and their peers. Excellence in reporting is recognised with a Gold, Silver or Bronze Award.

Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said that both the Council’s annual reports from 2016 and 2017 had received bronze awards and that this year’s Silver Award was an exciting achievement.

“Council staff take great pride in telling the story of our community through the annual report and to win a Silver Award is a credit to this work,” Mayor Learmonth said.

“The award means that the report meets the local government reporting requirements but also celebrates the highlights and achievements of Council and the wider community through simple and accessible language, layout and photographs.”

The 2018 Annual Report highlights Council’s performance and provides an update on its progress against the five Key Focus Areas outlined in the Gannawarra Shire Council Plan 2017-2021.  It includes information prescribed by the Local Government Act together with the audited financial statements for the 2017-2018 financial year.

“I encourage the community to take a look at the document if they have not already done so,” Mayor Learmonth said.

“The report is based around the theme of Our People, Our Place and Our Pride and winning this national award is just another way that promotes the Gannawarra as a great place to live, visit and do business.”

Copies of the award winning 2018 Annual Report are available by contacting Council or by visiting Council's website.
