Information regarding Council's community immunisation program
Council works closely with the community and a range of partners to encourage and support health promoting behaviors that influence a reduction of chronic disease to create healthier communities. Council and its partners support and encourage our residents to increase consumption of healthy foods, increase levels of activity and reduce alcohol consumption and smoking/vaping.
The rate of family and gender based violence incidents continues to be of concern. Council works with communities and organisations to support cultures that are non-violent, gender equitable, non-discriminatory and promote respectful relationships to create a safer community for all.
Council recognises that sport and recreation clubs and organisations play a significant role across our rural communities. Council is committed to strengthening connections between Gannawarra Sporting Clubs and building capacity of clubs to support their respective communities.
Children and young people makeup around a quarter of Gannawarra’s population, makingtheir wellbeing critical to the region’s long-term resilience, sustainability and prosperity. Council places a strong emphasis on family-centred approaches,early intervention and equity. Supporting children and young people in Gannawarra to feel connected and empowered to reach their full potential and thrive.
