Have your say on proposed Gannawarra Planning Scheme changes

Residents are encouraged to have their say on proposed changes to the Gannawarra Planning Scheme, including recommendations and findings from the Gannawarra Planning Scheme Review (2024).
The amendment process is the second step in the Gannawarra Planning Scheme review process, following the adoption of the review report in December 2024.
"The Gannawarra Planning Scheme is the statutory planning framework that guides and controls how land is used and developed within the municipality. This includes the policies that guide land use and development, how land is zoned, and the application of overlays that address specific issues such as flooding, environmental protection, heritage, and vegetation," Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
"This document determines whether a planning permit is required and what conditions may apply to a variety of projects, such as building a house, constructing a shed, subdividing land, changing the use of a property, or developing a business.
"It is important that the Gannawarra Planning Scheme aligns with legislative requirements and strategic priorities to guide future development, and these amendments will help ensure this occurs."
Residents and other stakeholders can inspect the amendment, supporting documentation, and the explanatory report by:
- Clicking on the Gannawarra Planning Scheme amendment heading at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/yoursay
- Visiting Council’s Customer Service Centres at Cohuna and Kerang.
- Visiting the Department of Transport and Planning website at www.planning.vic.gov.au/public-inspection, or phoning 1800 789 386 to arrange a time to view the amendment documentation.
Feedback will be accepted before 5pm Friday, 18 September in the following ways:
All submissions must be made in writing and need to include your name and contact address, clearly state the grounds on which the amendment is supported or opposed, and indicate what changes, if any, you would like to see made.
"Council encourages all residents and stakeholders with an interest in land use and planning matters to review these amendments and provide feedback," Mr Rollinson said.
