Gannawarra Shire Council is pleased to announce the re-opening of the Kerang Exercise Pool earlier today and the resumption of opening its facilities for hire following further easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

The eased restrictions, which came into effect at 11.59pm Thursday, provide greater flexibility for residents and businesses at this time.

“Council thanks the community for their understanding whilst the Kerang Exercise Pool was closed and facility hire bookings were cancelled,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“Council looks forward to welcoming residents back to these facilities, however, please be advised that some restrictions are in place to protect visitors and staff.”

The following restrictions will be in place at the Kerang Exercise Pool, including for those participating in the Warra Waders Learn to Swim Program:

  • Although change rooms and showers will be available, visitors are encouraged to arrive ready to swim.
  • To assist with density limits, only one parents/guardian will be able to attend with their child during Warra Waders Learn to Swim sessions.
  • Face masks are to be worn unless you are in the pool.
  • Those in attendance are encouraged to maintain social distancing when possible.

Restrictions are also in place for the maximum number of people attending Council managed facilities, with capacity capped at a density quotient of one person per four square metres or 75 people, whichever number is smaller.

Meanwhile, Social Meal sessions planned for the remainder of June will not proceed, with the program to resume from Thursday, 1 July.

“Residents are reminded that people attending any of Council’s facilities will need to wear a face mask, unless they have a valid exemption, sign in upon arrival and keep 1.5 metres apart,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“Most importantly, if you are not feeling well, please stay at home and arrange to have a COVID-19 test.”
