The Gannawarra Shire Council’s 2021 Community Grants Program is now open and accepting applications from community groups and organisations to help support projects, programs, activities, and events planned to be delivered across the Gannawarra.

Through the annual Community Grants Program, applicants can choose between three different grant streams: Community Support, Community Events or Major Community Projects.

  • Applicants through the Community Event and Community Support streams are able to apply for up to $5,000 per application to support community projects, programs, activities, or events
  • Applicants through the Major Community Projects stream can apply for funding of between $10,000 and $125,000 to develop infrastructure projects on non-Council owned or managed land

“Council’s Community Grants program aims to support community-led projects that help keep the Gannawarra as a great place to live,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“Providing financial assistance to help bring community-led ideas to life is particularly important as the community continues to deal with the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. While completing a grant application can seem daunting, Council will provide as much help as possible to assist our local groups and organisations to apply with confidence.”

To assist in writing a grant application, Council offers additional resources and quick guides through its Grants and funding webpage on the Gannawarra Shire Council website.

In addition, a virtual Gannawarra Community Grants Forum was hosted to coincide with the 2021 round opening.

“The forum provided applicants with support to understand the grant application process and improve their grant writing skills,” said Mr O’Reilly.

“Interested community members who were unable to attend the livestream event can request copies of the presentations by emailing or phoning 5450 9333.”

Applicants are encouraged to speak to Council officers prior to submitting their application. To make an appointment, please contact Council’s Customer Service staff on 5450 9333 or email

Community grant applications can be made via SmartyGrants at
until midnight Tuesday 31 August 2021.
