Some of the highlights of the 2025/2026 Proposed Budget include:
- Continuation of support for key services Gannawarra Shire residents rely on.
- A $17.256 million investment in capital works.
- Investment in road safety projects, made possible thanks to the Transport Accident Commission’s Safe Local Roads and Street Program
- Efforts to reduce the risks associated with future riverine and stormwater flood events, including flood betterment works, Stage 1 of the Koondrook Levee, and stormwater network and town pump renewals.
- The rejuvenation of the Gannawarra’s towns, including Stage 2 of the Cohuna Waterfront Development and the establishment of the Koondrook Local Development Strategy.
- The development of details plans for the redevelopment of swimming pools at Cohuna and Kerang.
- The completion of The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra.
- Funding for the maintenance of roads, bridges and footpaths.
The 2025/2026 Proposed Budget also complies with the State Government’s Fair Go Rates System, which states that the total revenue raised through municipal rates cannot increase by more than 3.00 per cent compared to the previous year.
