Women from Cohuna and surrounds involved in agriculture are encouraged to express an interest in a Take a Wellbeing Vacation workshop.

Occurring as part of National Agriculture Day on Friday, 20 November 2020, the free 2.5 hour online workshop encourages women to step away from their busy lives and take time for self-care.

The workshop forms part of the Women in the Warra health promotion campaign, occurring through to December 2020.

Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said that Council had received a $5,000 grant through the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal and the Gardiner Foundation to support the workshop.

“The Gardiner Foundation supports dairying communities and Council worked in partnership with women from the Cohuna community, Cohuna District Hospital and Northern District Community Health to successfully apply for this grant,” Mr O’Reilly said.

The Take a Wellbeing Vacation workshop, facilitated by Cynthia Mahoney and Associates, encourages women to think about their own well-being and develop strategies on how to prioritise self-care during these uncertain times.

Ms Mahoney said that she was excited to be bringing this workshop to the Gannawarra as part of the drought response and encouraged women involved in agriculture, or who had been involved in agriculture in the past, to register their interest.

As part of the workshop participants will learn to:

  • Use positive psychology techniques to boost well-being;
  • Let go of excess baggage and give themselves permission to say NO; and
  • Identify personal warning signs during times of stress and develop strategies for managing through tough times.

“There are limited places available so be quick to register your interest and I look forward to taking you on an online wellbeing vacation on Friday, 20 November between 1pm and 3:30pm,” Ms Mahoney said.

Successful participants will be notified on Friday, 13 November 2020 and will receive a well-being pack prior to the workshop.

Participants not familiar with the use of the Zoom online meeting platform will be supported to connect to the workshop.
