Water fun at your local library this January
Published on 15 December 2025
Families will be able to experience water-themed art and craft activities for children of all ages this January thanks to the Gannawarra Library Service’s school holiday program.
Eight events are planned for 8-21 January at the Cohuna Library and Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library.
“The Gannawarra Library Service team does an amazing job in providing various activities for families to enjoy during the school holidays, and what is planned for this month is no exception,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“January’s program will also be the first time school holiday events will be held at The Glasshouse, meaning families will be able to experience our new community connectivity space and learn about the building’s features.”
The program will begin on Thursday, 8 January with a Paint With Ice session from 10.30am, with the same venue hosting an Underwater Picture activity on Friday, 9 January from 10.30am.
Children will be able to keep cool at the service’s Kerang branch on Tuesday, 13 January thanks to the screening of two movies – Dude, Where’s My Dog from 10.30am and The Legend of the Five at 2.30pm.
The Cohuna Library will host a Glitter Globe session on Wednesday, 14 January from 10.30am, with the same program occurring at Kerang at 2.30pm on the same day.
Children aged 10 years and older will enjoy a Keep Cool With Steam session occurring at Kerang on Thursday, 15 January from 2.30pm, with the program wrapping up with a Watercolour Painting activity for children aged eight years and older, being held at Kerang on Wednesday, 21 January from 10.30am.
The library service is also teaming up with the National Gallery of Victoria, with its Kids on Tour program coming to Kerang on Monday, 19 January.
Children of all ages will enjoy a party-themed art workshop occurring from 10.30am where participants can make their own party hats and design cakes, whilst children aged 12 years and older will be able to design their own perfume bottles from 2.30pm.
Bookings for all activities are essential, with all children participating to be accompanied by an adult. For bookings or for more information, visit the Events and Programs page at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/libraries or phone (03) 5452 1546.
