Victorian Seniors Festival celebrations continuing

Celebrations marking the Victorian Seniors Festival are underway, with a number of events to occur throughout the Gannawarra between now and the end of October.
Now in its 37th year, the Victorian Seniors Festival is a fun time for people to celebrate and try something new in their local community and further afield.
“A number of events have already been held locally, including the Gannawarra Country Concert, which saw Nikki Nicholls, one of Australia’s top session singers, celebrate the careers of Carole King and James Taylor during a performance on 9 October to more than 80 people,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“Grandparents enjoyed a special Story Time session at the Cohuna Library on 10 October, whilst tomorrow’s bus trip to Charlton’s Rex Theatre for the screening of the 2019 movie Poms has been a popular choice for residents.”
Events will continue up to the end of the month at locations throughout the Gannawarra. The second of the Gannawarra Library Service’s Grandparents Story Time sessions will be held at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library on Thursday, 24 October, whilst places are filling up for a free makeup workshop occurring at the Sir John Gorton Library on Tuesday, 29 October.
Celebrations will wrap up on Thursday, 31 October with a morning tea cruise on the Wetlander.
“The theme of this year’s Victorian Seniors Festival is Get into It!, and I encourage all seniors in the Gannawarra to do that throughout October,” Mayor Learmonth said.
