Victoria Square wins Architecture Award

Media Release

Kerang’s Victoria Square has won the Award of Excellence in the Urban Design category of the 2018 Victorian Landscape Architecture Awards.

Gannawarra Shire Council Mayor Brian Gibson said that it was a great honour to have Victoria Square recognised at a state level.

“The nomination was submitted by the architect company Hansen Partnership and is a great acknowledgment to Council who managed the project and community members who were involved in the consultation and design,” said Mayor Gibson.

“The Kerang Victoria Square upgrade was a unique and exciting opportunity to not only improve the aesthetic appeal of Victoria Street and Victoria Square but also to enhance the functionality of this key area,” Mayor Gibson explained.

The Victorian Landscape Architecture Awards recognise high-quality strategic and landscape design-led projects that enhance public spaces, engage with the community and exemplify enduring design.

“We are very excited that Victoria Square will now proceed to the National Awards to be announced on Thursday October 11, 2018 as part of this year’s International Festival of Landscape Architecture,” said Mayor Gibson.

An exhibition of the award-winning projects in the Victorian state awards will be on display at RMIT Design Hub in Melbourne fromAugust 20, 2018.
