The Glasshouse's National Awards for Local Government recognition

The Glasshouse, Kerang has been recognised by the National Awards for Local Government.
The $3.07 million project received an Honourable Mention in the Outstanding Rural and Remote Council category, announced earlier this week as part of events associated with the 2026 Australian Council of Local Government event in Canberra.
“Council is honoured to receive recognition from the National Awards for Local Government program, which showcases the efforts of the 537 local councils across Australia,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“A public vote helps determine each of the 13 category winners, meaning The Glasshouse resonated with many of those who took the opportunity earlier this year to view all nominees and determine who they wanted to be recognised as part of the awards program.”
Officially opened in December 2025, The Glasshouse has hosted various Council and community events, including awards and Australian Citizenship ceremonies, comedy evenings, workshops, author talks and children’s activities.
“Receiving an Honourable Mention means The Glasshouse will receive national exposure, which will promote this regionally unique space and the Gannawarra to a wider audience,” Mr Rollinson said.
“Council thanks all who voted for The Glasshouse, as well as all who made this ambitious project a reality.”
