The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra reaches key construction milestone

Construction of The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra has reached a key milestone, with the project on track to be open later this year.

Work to install the glass panel frames that will form the exterior of Gannawarra Shire Council’s newest community meeting and digital connectivity space occurred last week, marking a major milestone for the $3.07 million project.

“Visitors to Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library during the past few months have been able to observe how this new space has grown and how it will already connect into the adjoining library space,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

“The installation of the building’s glass façade means that work will soon begin to fit out the building’s interior, which will include the latest digital technology to support current and future users.”

Once completed, The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra will be able to accommodate events and workshops that require meeting spaces larger than what is currently available in the municipality, with the building to incorporate technology for modern meetings, conferences and training sessions.

The building will also support the Gannawarra Library Service to plan and deliver a broader range of programs for young people such as movie making, sound and music recording.

“Council thanks regular visitors to the Sir John Gorton Library for their patience as construction of The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra continues and looks forward to sharing the municipality’s newest multi-purpose community meeting and digital connectivity space with you when construction is completed,” Mr Rollinson said.

The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra project is supported by $1.5 million from the State Government’s Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.
