Stormwater improvements for Airport Road and Borough Drive, Kerang
Published on 10 June 2026
Properties located within Borough Drive, Kerang will benefit from the installation of new stormwater mitigation infrastructure as part of Gannawarra Shire Council’s efforts to improve urban stormwater management across the municipality.
Work will begin on Monday, 15 June to install culverts at the southern end of Borough Drive and reconstruct an open drain on the Kerang Aerodrome side of Airport Road between Borough Drive and the intersection of Kerang-Koondrook Road.
Work will also occur to install a new culvert under Kerang-Koondrook Road, north of the intersection of Airport Road.
“The Borough Drive estate was one of many areas impacted by flash flooding the Gannawarra experienced on Christmas Day 2023 and early January 2024, which left residents working with emergency authorities to pump water off properties,” Council Director of Infrastructure and Development, Wade Williams said.
“Since then, Council has worked with Victorian Department of Transport and Planning to identify ways to improve drainage infrastructure along Airport Road, which the department manages, that will assist in draining stormwater away from properties along Borough Drive.
Motorists are advised that whilst these works are occurring, Borough Drive will be closed at the intersection of Airport Road from 16-18 June, with motorists advised to use Kerang-Koondrook Road to access Borough Drive.
Traffic will also be reduced to one lane along Airport Road between Borough Drive and Kerang-Koondrook Road, as well as along Kerang-Koondrook Road whilst the new culvert is being installed.
It is anticipated these works will be completed by the end of the June.
“Council thanks residents and motorists for their understanding as these works are completed and looks forward to the completion of this important project,” Mr Williams said.
