Road closures will be in place along Browning Avenue, Murrabit during the next three to four weeks as the $1.1 million Murrabit Stormwater Project continues.

Funded by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, the project will revolutionise the town’s stormwater infrastructure by converting its current open drain network to an underground drainage infrastructure system, and is about to commence development.

“The modernising of Murrabit’s stormwater network will improve the liveability for residents and visitors to this popular Murray River town,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“The project will also provide health benefits, with the removal of deep spoon drains that are conducive to disease-carrying mosquitos during the warmer months of the year.”

As part of the works, Browning Avenue will be closed daily between Gonn Avenue and Danson Street, but will re-open at the end of each work day for residential access.

Detours will be in place whilst these works occur, with motorists wanting to access the western section of Browning Avenue able to do so via Danson Street or Murrabit West Road.

“Council thanks residents and motorists for their patience as these works occur,” Mr O’Reilly said.
