Morton Garner Pavilion redevelopment completed

Cohuna Recreation Reserve users will benefit from improved facilities following the completion of the Morton Garner Pavilion.
Gannawarra Shire Council oversaw the redevelopment of the Cohuna and District Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Society building, converting the former pavilion into a multi-purpose facility that can be used for agriculture and community events.
“This project, initiated by the Cohuna and District Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Society, has brought this popular facility into the 21st century,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“The former pavilion was used by the Cohuna and District Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Society to showcase its pavilion entries during its annual show, as well as local community groups.
“Thanks to this redevelopment, these groups now have access to a multi-use building offering easier and safer access to toilet facilities and open space events areas that are aesthetically inspired by the Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre building.”
Local architect, AKH Designs designed the new pavilion in consultation with the Cohuna and District Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Society, with CJ & BT McLoughlan Builders awarded the tender for the facility’s construction.
“Council congratulates all who were involved in this project and looks forward to seeing the community embrace this new community space,” Mr O’Reilly said.
The $600,000 Morton Garner Pavilion Redevelopment was made possible thanks to $475,000 provided from the Federal Government’s Regional Agricultural Show Development Grants program to the Cohuna and District Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Society and $125,000 from Gannawarra Shire Council.
