Residents and visitors may have noticed new features at locations across the Gannawarra Shire thanks to a Creative Gannawarra-coordinated initiative running throughout May.

Supported by funding from the Victorian Government’s COVID Safe Outdoor Activation Fund, mega 3D letters spelling out four of the Gannawarra’s towns are currently on display at Cohuna’s Apex Park, Kerang’s Atkinson Park, Koondrook Wharf and Guthrie Street, Quambatook.

“This installation is a great way for residents to display pride for the towns they call home, as well as a unique tourism opportunity for visitors,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“Similar initiatives, such as the VIVA BENDIGO sign in Bendigo, are renowned for being popular social media photographic locations, and we hope visitors to the four locations where these signs are based will find similar inspiration.

“The initiative also has flow-on benefits for promoting the Gannawarra’s tourism opportunities, especially with the use of the hashtags such as #TheGannawarra where photos are posted on Facebook and Instagram.”

Visitors to each of the sites will also have the chance to win one of four gift vouchers from local businesses by adding the hashtag #creativeGannawarra to their uploaded images on Instagram.

“All images featuring the giant 3D signs and the #CreativeGannawarra hashtag uploaded between now and Tuesday, 31 May will be eligible for one of the four prizes on offer, with an image from each site to be selected in early June,” Mr O’Reilly said.
