Ninyeunook residents are benefiting from work to replace the McLean Road bridge with a concrete structure.

Completed as part of Gannawarra Shire Council’s $29 million 2024/25 capital works program, the project involved replacing the timber bridge that spanned a tributary of the Avoca River with a concrete structure.

“Council thanks residents for their patience as we undertook these important works,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

“The McLean Road bridge is one of more than 60 bridges that Council maintains, and with some of these structures nearing the end of their life, it is important that work occurs to replace these structures to cater for existing farming operations and future generations.”

The McLean Road bridge replacement project was the third bridge replacement to occur during this financial year, following on work to install a new structure at Apex Park Road, Reedy Lake and efforts to replace the Kervins Road bridge, west of Cohuna.

Council’s 2024/25 bridge replacement program was supported by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program and the Roads to Recovery Program.
