Gannawarra Library Service’s branches at Cohuna, Kerang, Leitchville and Quambatook will re-open to the public for borrowing purposes from Wednesday, 21 October.

Library branches have been closed to the public since the start of August following the re-introduction of COVID-19 restrictions, with a ‘click and collect’ program operating since mid-September.

“The Gannawarra Library Service thanks its members for their understanding throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and looks forward to the re-opening of its branches for the second time this year,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“Regional Victoria’s progression through the State Government’s roadmap towards COVID-normal means residents can return to our libraries at this time, with a range of measures in place to ensure the safety of customers and staff.”

As part of these measures, new operating hours will be in place to allow for sufficient time for cleaning venues daily:

  • Cohuna Library Branch – 12.30pm-4pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from Wednesday, 21 October.
  • Sir John Gorton Library, Kerang – 11am-3pm Monday to Friday from Wednesday, 21 October.
  • Leitchville Library Branch – 2pm-4.30pm Tuesday from Tuesday, 27 October.
  • Quambatook Library Branch – 9.30am-4pm Monday, 10am-4pm Wednesday and 9.30am-12 noon Friday from Wednesday, 21 October.

“There will be limits on the number of patrons allowed in branches at any time, with extended stays discouraged,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“In line with State Government regulations, people attending branches will be asked to provide their contact details to assist with contact tracing and use hand sanitiser upon entry and checking out any items for borrowing. Those inside these venues will also need to adhere to the 1.5-metre social distancing rule.

“We ask that patrons wishing to return items do so via our external book chutes, and most importantly, please stay home if you are feeling unwell.”
