Residents wanting to learn about the history of some of Kerang’s houses are encouraged to visit Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library between Monday, 29 April and Friday, 31 May and explore a new exhibition.

As part of the National Trust’s Australian Heritage Festival, the Kerang and District Family History Group has compiled the Kerang’s History in Our Houses exhibition, which focuses on many of the town’s historic residences and businesses.

“Council is pleased to support the National Trust’s Australian Heritage Festival for a third consecutive year, following on from the previous success of the Lester Smith Lookout Tower open day and the Squatters and the Kerang Big Stations exhibition,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

"The exhibition highlights the dedication of the Kerang and District Family History Group’s members to preserve our history, with visitors able to learn about changes to architectural styles and family histories in the numerous generations between the late 1800s through to the 19th century.

“The exhibition will enable long-term residents to reminisce about former residents and businesses that have called Kerang home, with visitors and new residents able to learn about Kerang’s history.”

The Kerang’s History in Our Houses exhibition will be open 10am-5pm weekdays and 10am-12 noon Saturdays until 31 May. Admission is free.
