Kerang CBD revised plans now available!

A fresh new approach to the furnishings throughout the Kerang CBD is being considered as part of the redevelopment plans currently underway by Council.

An example of the type of furniture can be seen at the front of the Municipal Council Chambers (between the flags), with a new planter box being installed recently.

Council staff developed a concept plan and have built the sample in-house, at a significantly reduced cost than can be purchased from a specialist company.

Mayor Cr Brian Gibson explains that as a result of community consultation, Council is gauging the reaction of this style of furnishing with the intention to eventually roll them out across the Shire to complement our standard bins surrounds and seating.

“The community feedback on the Kerang CBD redevelopment has been very encouraging, there are many passionate people in the community who want to ensure that their town reflects the views, history and values.”

“Revised plans are now on display in Patchell Plaza and on Council’s website on the ‘Have Your Say’ section. The Plans are expected to be presented to Council at its December meeting. Following this meeting, detailed designs are expected to be completed by March with construction likely to begin in April 2017,” Mayor Gibson said.

“Therefore Council is encouraging the community to let us know your thoughts on the style of furnishings they can see across the Shire.  Already the response from passer-by’s to the sample has been overwhelmingly positive,” Mr Gibson said.
