Stage 2 of the Kerang CBD Redevelopment will reach a key milestone this week, with works to develop a dedicated outdoor dining area on the northwestern corner of Fitzroy and Scoresby streets to begin.

The improvements, which are part of the $1.317 million project funded by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, are part of continued efforts to link the Kerang Railway Station, the award-winning Victoria Square precinct and the Kerang Open Space Precinct, located along Scoresby Street between Albert and Victoria streets.

“Pedestrians are already benefiting from works completed at the intersection of Scoresby and Victoria streets, as well as the northern section of Scoresby Street in Kerang’s central business district,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“This next section of work will not only improve pedestrian access at the intersection of Scoresby and Fitzroy streets, it will create a space where shoppers can relax and eat.”

As part of the works, seating currently located outside of Gray’s Bakery will be removed, and pedestrian access diverted.

“Motorists are advised that the speed limit at the intersection will be reduced to 40 kilometres per hour and car parking spaces will be limited whilst these improvements occur,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“Council thanks residents, business owners and visitors for their patience as these works occur and looks forward to the completion of this project at the end of the year.”
