Gannawarra Shire Council continues to monitor the flood situation throughout the region, with residents and visitors encouraged to access the latest information via external agencies.

With the region experiencing its largest flood since 2016, Council continues to assess river levels along the three major rivers that pass through the municipality – the Avoca, Loddon and Murray.

“During a flood situation, Council is guided by external agencies such as VICSES and Victoria Police in relation to what assistance is provided, be it equipment or personnel,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“Residents can stay informed in relation to river levels and road closures by relying on a number of trusted resources.”

“Flood waters can be deceptive, so please do not attempt to walk or ride through swollen rivers or creeks,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“Motorists are reminded to not drive through floodwater. A small vehicle can be swept away in water that is at least 15 centimetres deep.”
