Works to improve vehicle access and parking along the northern section of Kangaroo Lake will begin on Monday, 14 October.

Stage 1 of the Kangaroo Lake Foreshore Redevelopment will include upgrading the intersection of Mystic Park and Lake View roads to accommodate larger vehicles and trailers, as well as increasing the number of vehicle, boat and trailer parking spaces available.

A new barbecue shelter with picnic tables and planting of extra native trees around the vicinity, providing greater shade for visitors to the area, will also be completed.

“Lake View Road will be closed to all traffic for six weeks whilst these works occur. This also means the public will not be able to access the toilet block and boat ramp,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.

“Boat launching facilities are available at Gorton Point, with public toilets also available for use at this popular location.”

Stage 1 of the Kangaroo Lake Foreshore Redevelopment was identified in the Waterfront Masterplan for the Kerang Lakes, which was approved by Council earlier this year.

“The northern section of Kangaroo Lake is a popular location for boat users and those wanting to keep cool during the warmer months. These works will further enhance this location as a tourist attraction for the Gannawarra,” Mayor Learmonth said.

“Council thanks residents and visitors for their patience whilst these works are completed.”

The Kangaroo Lake Foreshore Redevelopment is supported by the Federal Government’s Regional Growth Fund.
