Increase in transfer station timber disposal fees
Published on 16 December 2025
Fees associated with the disposal of timber at Gannawarra Shire Council’s transfer stations will increase from Monday, 22 December.
As part of the changes, the gate fee for disposing construction timber and general timber waste will increase from $16 per cubic metre to $42 per cubic metre.
“Council’s transfer stations enable residents to safely dispose of various items, with many products able to be recycled and repurposed,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“In this instance, the increase in gate fees for the disposal of timber is required to restore effective handling and processing of timber waste destined for landfill.
“The change also reflects an increase in costs to process the disposal of timber.”
Residents and building companies are encouraged to review their waste management practices and plan accordingly for the change in fees.
“Council thanks users of our transfer stations for their understanding and look forward to continue to work with visitors to these sites to safely dispose of various waste items,” Mr Rollinson said.
Anyone with questions or would like more information regarding the change in fees and charges is encouraged to phone Council on (03) 5450 9333 during business hours or email council@gsc.vic.gov.au
