Help your club win the preseason pool challenge
Published on 06 January 2026
Local football and netball players, as well as their supporters, are encouraged to visit their local swimming pool this summer and help their team take out a new award.
Gannawarra Shire Council is partnering with the Koondrook Swimming Pool committee to coordinate the inaugural Preseason Pool Challenge, which will enable visitors to the Cohuna, Kerang, Koondrook and Leitchville swimming pools to log the number of laps swum and allocate this total to their local club.
“The Preseason Pool Challenge is a great way for residents to get active, use our local swimming pools and support their local sports team,” Council’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Wade Williams said.
“It doesn’t matter whether you are an active swimmer, someone who rarely visits any of our pools or a supporter of a local team, your efforts will help improve your fitness and boost the competitive spirit amongst our football and netball clubs.”
To help your local team record laps, head to either the Cohuna, Kerang, Koondrook or Leitchville swimming pools before Sunday, 1 March, record the number of laps completed on the log sheet at the kiosk at either venue and allocate your laps to your selected club.
The top two lap swimmers at each venue will also be recognised with a free season pass for the 2026/27 season.
As part of efforts to support the challenge, Council has also resumed running the Morning Laps program at the Kerang Swimming Pool. Sessions will be held at 6am-8am Tuesdays and Thursdays up to Thursday, 26 February.
The Morning Laps program is also occurring at the Cohuna Swimming Pool, with the facility open 6am-8am Tuesdays, 8am-10am Wednesdays, 6am-8am Thursdays and 8am-10am Fridays up to Friday, 27 February.
