The Gannawarra Flood Reflections Exhibition continues its tour of the Gannawarra, with Cohuna the next stop for this popular exhibition that features photographs captured during the 2022 floods.

The Cohuna Art and Craft Gallery, located at 23 King Edward Street, will host the exhibition from next week through to Friday, 28 June, with the gallery open 10am-12 noon Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays or by appointment by phoning 0429 103 180.

Featuring more than 100 images taken by residents, the exhibition is a snapshot of how the 2022 flood impacted the municipality and a celebration of how residents responded to the Gannawarra’s second major flood event in 11 years.

“It has been fantastic to see how this exhibition has been embraced by the community, both through the photographic submission period and its tour through the Gannawarra,” Mayor Ross Stanton said.

“Cohuna is the third stop of the exhibition’s tour, following on from its premiere in Kerang in March and a popular three-week stop at Murrabit that wraps up during this Saturday’s edition of the Murrabit Country Market.”

All items that feature in the Gannawarra Flood Reflections Exhibition are professionally presented and will be returned to contributors following the exhibition’s tour, with digital images and drone footage to be retained by Council for historical purposes.

“Council is aware that community members who were impacted by the floods are at various stages in their recovery and that feelings and emotions are a normal part of recovery,” Mayor Stanton said.

“Support continues to be available for impacted residents and information will be provided as part of the exhibition if revisiting images from the floods causes concern.”

The exhibition is funded by the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments under the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) as part of the Gannawarra Community Flood Recovery Program.
