Find out who manages the Gannawarra's roads and bridges

Motorists wanting to know which level of government is responsible for managing certain roads and bridges within the Gannawarra can now do so.
Following a recommendation from the newly formed Roads Focus Group, Gannawarra Shire Council’s website now features maps identifying which roads and bridges it manages, as well as which roads the State Government is responsible for.
“Our Roads Focus Group, which consists of residents and transport operators who regularly use roads throughout the Gannawarra, identified that many residents struggle to identify whether roads within their area are managed by Council or the State Government,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“This feedback aligns with the findings of the 2025 Community Satisfaction Survey, which found that 76 per cent of the roads identified in the Gannawarra Shire that were of average, poor or very poor quality are managed by the Victorian Department of Transport. This highlights that the State Government’s management of roads within Gannawarra significantly influences the community’s perception of Sealed Local Road management in the municipality.”
The three maps can be found online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/roads.
A link to this page is also available via Council’s online report an issue section. Available online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/request, this page also features a link to Transport Victoria’s roads issues and enquiries page.
“With many of the road-related requests Council receives relating to our two highways and various arterial roads, it is important for our residents and motorists travelling through the Gannawarra that these requests for repairs go to the right people,” Mr Rollinson said.
