Directory helping keep residents connected
Published on 17 December 2025
Gannawarra Shire Council has developed a second edition of a quarterly directory that aims to foster social connections and enhance mental health and wellbeing.
An initiative of the Gannawarra Community Resilience Committee under the Gannawarra Flood Recovery Program, the Community Connections Directory promotes regular community programs and activities held across the municipality.
The development of activities listed in the quarterly publication have been supported by the local neighbourhood houses in Cohuna, Kerang and Quambatook, Northern District Community Health, Gannawarra Library Service, and a range of community organisations including playgroups, men’s sheds and senior groups.
“Social connectivity is crucial for mental and physical health, fostering a sense of belonging, reducing the risk of illness, and enhancing overall wellbeing,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“We are fortunate to have so many community groups and organisations willing to run regular programs, and the Community Connections Directory highlights these opportunities for new and long-term residents to connect with others.”
Located online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/communitydirectory, from Council’s Customer Service Centres, Gannawarra Library Service branches, and neighbourhood houses, the directory features details regarding programs for young children, families and seniors, as well as community health services, transport options and wellbeing support options.
“Council thanks the various community groups, organisations and service providers that have provided details for the current edition of the Community Connections Directory and looks forward to continuing to work with the community to enhance this important resource,” Mr Rollinson said.
If you have programs and/or activities to include in the next edition of this directory, please phone Council on (03) 5450 9333.
