Gannawarra Shire Council meetings will move to the municipality’s newest meeting space from February 2026.

Councillors adopted a recommendation at its November 2025 to move its meetings from the Kerang Senior Citizens Centre to The Glasshouse from next year.

Located at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library, The Glasshouse will enable greater flexibility for meetings, including the capacity to cater for larger than average attendance numbers.

“Moving our meetings to The Glasshouse marks an exciting new chapter for Council and the ability for residents to watch how your Councillors represent our communities when making key decision that drive the future of the Gannawarra,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

“The Kerang Senior Citizens Centre has catered for Council meetings for the past five years, with Council adapting the site to ensure it was digitally capable of streaming meetings during COVID and record proceedings for people to view at any time. This building also meant that Council was complying with the Australian Disability Discrimination Act 1992, which legislates that our buildings must be accessible to people with disabilities.

“People who attend Council meetings at The Glasshouse will benefit from the site’s audio-visual capabilities that meets current practices, which will support greater interactivity now and in the future.”

Eleven scheduled meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of the month between February and December, with a meeting to elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for 2026/27 to occur at 5.30pm on Wednesday, 18 November 2026.

Any changes to meeting arrangements, including the time and location of meetings, will be promoted via Council’s Facebook page, website, Gannawarra News and Gannawarra Connect publications.

“Building and enhancing connections between Council and our communities continues to be important to my fellow Councillors and I, so we will endeavour to meet with residents across the Gannawarra during 2026 to discuss local matters. These gatherings may include informal meetings with community or listening post sessions, with details to be confirmed in the coming months,” Mr Rollinson said.

For those unable to attend any of Council’s meetings, a video of proceedings will be available to view at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/meetings within 24 hours after the completion of the meeting.
