Gannawarra Shire community members, families, and businesses are encouraged to help improve broadband and mobile internet access across the municipality by completing the Connecting Victoria program survey recently released by the Department of Jobs, Precincts, and Regions.

To complete the survey, community members can simply go to https://engage.vic.gov.au/connecting-victoria and answer five short questions by 20 September 2021. The survey provides residents with the opportunity to have their say on broadband issues experienced where they live and work.

The survey forms part of the Victorian Government’s $550 million Connecting Victoria program, which focuses on getting more Victorians access to business-grade broadband and upgrading mobile coverage across the state.

The information provided by residents will assist the State Government in understanding where the improvement of mobile and broadband connectivity should be prioritised.  Any personal information collected, held, managed, used, disclosed, or transferred as part of the survey will be held in accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 and under other applicable laws.

“This survey helps to provide a voice to rural and regional Victorians about where substandard internet services exist and where broadband upgrades are needed the most,” said Chief Executive Officer Tom O’Reilly.

“Through taking part in this survey, community members are helping to get the Gannawarra Shire’s Broadband services improved and supporting further digital connectivity to the area. Subsequently, helping to support the delivery of quality mobile phone connectivity and broadband essential to local businesses, families, emergency services, and future tourism initiatives.”

The first locations to receive broadband upgrades or new infrastructure are expected to be announced later this year, with more to follow across the state throughout 2022.
