The Cohuna and Kerang outdoor swimming pools are now open for the 2019/20 season.

Both facilities, managed by Gannawarra Shire Council, opened to the public at 3pm today, with the venues to operate from 3pm to 7pm during the remainder of November.

The traditional summer opening hours of 10am to 8pm will come into effect from Sunday, 1 December and be in place until Saturday, 29 February 2020.

“Council is ready for another bumper season at the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools, with both venues attracting a combined total of more than 42,000 visitors in 2018/19,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.

“There is plenty on offer for visitors at both venues to experience, including water slides and the Kerang Splash Park.”

General admission charges remain at $4.50 for adults, $3.50 for children aged four to 17 years and $3.00 for pensioners, with children aged three years and under able to enter for free. Activities on offer at both venues, including water slides, inflatable pool toys and the Kerang Splash Park, are free to use as part of the entry fee to each pool.

“Council is continuing to keep the entry admission costs for both of these pools as low as possible to ensure these venues are accessible and well used by the community during the hottest part of the year,” Mayor Learmonth said.

“Waterslides at each location will be operational from 3pm to 6pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for November, February and March, with the December and January operational times of 1pm-5pm, 5 days a week coming into effect on Sunday, 1 December.

“Families are reminded that children under the age of five, or those who are under 1.2 metres tall, must be accompanied by an adult when using the waterslides.”

As in previous years, a Weather Temperature Policy will be in place. Outdoor pools will be closed on days the Bureau of Meteorology website’s forecast temperature for either town is 21 degrees Celsius or lower. These closures, as well as changes to operating hours due to inclement weather, high winds or storm events, will be publicised via Council’s Facebook page – www.facebook.com/gannawarra
