Spaces for a number of Creative Gannawarra-supported art workshops occurring this month are filling fast.

Gannawarra Shire Council’s creative program is working with local artists Kerryn Finch and Paul Oswin to host events for people of all ages this November.

“With the recent easing of COVID-19 restrictions, Council is pleased to be supporting the Gannawarra’s creative community in encouraging residents to return to these popular workshops,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“Kerryn and Paul are renowned throughout the Gannawarra for their works, so it is great that both of them will be providing the opportunity to teach residents some of their skills.”

Primary school students will enjoy making Magiclay creations with Kerryn Finch during two workshops being held at the Kerang Neighbourhood House on Wednesday, 17 November and Wednesday, 24 November from 4pm to 5.30pm. Admission for each session is $5, with booking to be completed online by visiting www.trybooking.com/BVBSI

“These workshops are part of the Re-Connect with your Gannawarra program, which aims to support mental health and wellbeing and re-establish social connections during the Gannawarra’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mr O’Reilly said.

Meanwhile, following on from successful workshops held earlier this year, Paul Oswin will be hosting his Watercolour and Charcoal Nature Portraits sessions at various venues throughout the Gannawarra.

Sessions will be held on the following dates:

  • Monday, 22 November: Quambatook Memorial Hall (5.30pm-8.30pm)
  • Tuesday, 23 November: Kerang Memorial Hall (5.30pm-8.30pm)
  • Sunday, 28 November: Murrabit Hall (2pm-5pm)
  • Tuesday, 30 November: Dingwall Hall (2pm-5pm)

Admission is $5 for each session, with all materials supplied. Bookings can be completed online by visiting www.trybooking.com/BTNYM

“Residents who attended Paul’s sessions back in April were proud to have created outstanding watercolour and charcoal works of some of the Gannawarra’s popular wildlife, and these workshops occurring this month are anticipated to create a similar result,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“As per COVID-19 measures in place at this time, those attending any of these sessions who are aged 16 years and over must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a valid medical exemption.”
