Animal registration renewals due 11 April 2022
Published on 15 March 2022
Animal registration notices are currently being distributed to dog and cat owners within the Gannawarra Shire, with payment to be made by Monday, 11 April 2022.
As outlined in the Domestic Animals Act 1994, all dogs and cats over three months of age must be registered with their local Council and microchipped.
“Microchipping your cat or dog and registering your pets with Council provides some security should your beloved animals become lost, with details enabling our Local Laws team to reunite found cats and dogs with their owners,” Gannawarra Shire Council Acting Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
“Registration fees cover Council’s pound expenses and support key domestic animal-related services.”
Reduced registration fees are applicable for pets aged over 10 years; dogs kept for working stock; animals that are registered with an Applicable Organisation; and animals that are desexed.
“Additional discounts also apply if the owner currently holds an eligible pension card. If you have a current Pensioner Concession Card and your renewal does not show the pensioner concession rate, please contact our friendly Customer Service team on (03) 5450 9333,” Mr Rollinson said.
Payment can be made in person at Council’s Customer Service Centres, by cheque or money order mailed to Council, over the phone by phoning (03) 5450 9333 or online via BPAY. A separate BPAY payment is required per animal.
