2026 National Simultaneous Storytime celebrations planned

The Gannawarra Library Service will celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime later this month, with a special event occurring at The Glasshouse on Wednesday, 27 May.
As part of the annual Australian Library and Information Association event, children from across Australia will gather at hundreds of locations nationally from 12 noon to read Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd’s story, Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller.
“Council is proud to continue its support of National Simultaneous Storytime, which bring people together to celebrate the joys of reading and storytelling,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller focuses on Luna, a spirited kangaroo and her friends as they chase their football dreams across the outback.
“The book’s focus on action, teamwork and fun are great messages for our children, with the need to navigate nerves, face tricky opponents and overcome unexpected hurdles matters they face every day,” Mr Rollinson said.
“The Australian Library and Information Association’s choice for this year’s book is also timely, with the Matildas finishing runners-up in the Asian Cup held earlier this year in Australia and the Socceroos to play in the World Cup next month.”
Festivities will begin at 11.30am with the Kerang Soccer Club hosting a mini clinic, with the reading of Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller to occur from 12 noon.
