Did you know it is compulsory for anyone who finds a stray animal to take them to or notify their local council as soon as possible after picking up the animal?
This includes veterinarians and shelters who return lost animals directly to owners using the animal's microchip details.
(Domestic Animals Act 1994 / Part 7A—Powers to seize and dispose of dogs or cats and related matters / 84D Seized dog or cat must be delivered up )
Phone Council on 5450 9333 and Customer Service will record details of the lost animal.
If Customer Service or Local Laws Officers are notified of a found animal which matches the description, we can reunite you with your pet much sooner.
If your dog or cat is lost please check the images below to view the animals currently in the Council pound.
A pound release fee of $50.00 (first offence) $100.00 (second offence) or $200.00 (third offence) is applicable plus a sustenance fee of $24.00 per day may apply for claimed animals.
Animals must be registered with Council prior to release from the pound. Please note no registration can be accepted without proof of microchipping.
Gannawarra Shire Council do not rehome animals directly from our Pound. The Pet adoption page lists a number of adoption centres close to the Gannawarra Shire.
If you believe you are the owner an animal shown below, please contact Council on 5450 9333.
