Skips provided for campers' rubbish

Visitors camping in the Gannawarra this Easter are encouraged to use increased waste bin facilities that will be located at numerous locations throughout the Shire.

Skip bins will be placed at seven locations throughout the Shire to cater for rubbish that campers and visitors to the Shire’s major natural attractions will accumulate during the Easter long weekend.

These locations are:

“We welcome those who choose to spend Easter experiencing the Gannawarra’s forest and waterways and understand that adequate waste collection services are required,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.

Council has provided this service to visitors since 2010, ensuring large volumes of rubbish is disposed of correctly rather than left within the Shire’s forests.

“I encourage visitors to the Gannawarra to use these facilities, rather than potentially polluting our pristine environment,” Mayor Learmonth said.

“Gannawarra residents are reminded that these skips are not to be used for general waste or items that can be taken to one of Council’s Transfer Stations for disposal.”
