Excitement is mounting as plans for building works to construct a new Pre-School building at Leitchville come to fruition.

This follows a successful funding application earlier in the year for $314,000 from the Victorian Department of Education and Training’s Annual Children’s Capital Grant.

Mayor Brian Gibson said that the 1943 building had served its purpose well.

“The Leitchville Pre-School is extremely popular within the shire with attendance numbers at the service steadily growing each year.”

“The current building is no longer functional and fails to meet disability access requirements.”

The new building will provide better facilities for three and four year old kindergarten, along with the potential to offer different services for families and children. The size of the building will enable a kindergarten program to be offered to more children.

Demolition works are expected to commence the week commencing October 29, 2018 with the pre-school relocating to the shire’s Cohuna Preschool facility for the remainder of the 2018 year.

“The community of Leitchville is looking forward to a new building that meets current standards and can provide pre-school services to the community for many years to come.”

The Children’s Facilities Capital Program (CFCP) supports the provision of high quality early years programs for children and their families. Access to a high quality early years service is essential to giving every Victorian child the best start in life.
