GANNAWARRA ACTING CEO ARRANGEMENTS

Gannawarra Shire Council has appointed Tom O’Reilly as acting Chief Executive Officer following the recent resignation of current CEO Eric Braslis, who has accepted the head position at Golden Plains Shire Council.

Mr O’Reilly, who currently fills the Director Corporate Services role at Council, commenced at Gannawarra in March 2016.

Mayor Brian Gibson said that although the recruitment process for a new CEO is going very well, due to Mr Braslis finishing on 8 December, interim arrangements needed to be put in place.

"Council is pleased that Tom has accepted the leadership role for this period and we look forward to working with him to ensure the work of Council continues without interruption over the coming weeks and months."

Mr O’Reilly has a professional background in both local government and private industry, and came to Gannawarra following a period of time with Buloke Shire Council.

During his time in the private sector, Mr O’Reilly was CEO of Metzke+Allen Chartered Accountants based in Shepparton and he has extensive career experience in Northern Victoria, including time with Goulburn-Murray Water and Goulburn Valley Water.

Personally, Mr O’Reilly sits on the Board of Northern District Community Health and is an avid runner, often competing in marathons and other events across the state.

Mr O’Reilly is looking forward to the challenge of leading Gannawarra for this interim period.

"I thank the Councillors for their trust in my ability to fill this important role, and I am excited to continue working with Councillors, staff and the community on the many projects and initiatives currently underway or in the pipeline for Gannawarra."

An announcement on the new CEO for Gannawarra Shire is expected to be made in the coming weeks.
