Free Live Light Painting Workshops
Media Release
Gannawarra Shire Council is offering FREE Live Light Painting workshops to young people and community members in January 2019.
Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said Live Light Painting is a new and exciting form of visual storytelling.
“During the workshops participants will learn how to create interactive animated paintings on an iPad and how to bring their artwork to life using sound and music,” said Mayor Learmonth.
“This concept has been seen at events such as the White Night Festival and Vivid Sydney,” Mayor Learmonth explained.
Council received $10,000 in funding from the CommBank Centenary Foundation Grant to deliver this project aimed at improving health and wellbeing of young people living in Kerang and surrounds through the performing arts.
“Council has worked closely with a group of local young people as well as community leaders interested in performing arts to develop this project and is excited to be partnering with CommBank to present these workshops,” said Mayor Learmonth.
“The aim is to develop skills and confidence within the performing arts with the hope being that this will lead to the activation of the public spaces around the Shire,” added Mayor Learmonth.
The Live Light Painting workshops, presented by the Little Projector Company and Regional Arts Victoria, will be held at the Kerang Memorial Hall between 10am and 4pm on Tuesday January 22 and Wednesday January 23, 2019.
“The workshops are free and suitable for community members aged 12 years plus - no experience is necessary,” said Mayor Learmonth.
Bookings can be made via

and participants may choose to attend one or both days.
“Following the workshops, community members are invited to view the interactive and animated works created by participants and workshop leaders between 5pm and 6pm on Wednesday January 23 at the Kerang Memorial Hall,” added Mayor Learmonth.
