Preparations for the 2026/26 season at the Cohuna and Kerang outdoor swimming pools are underway, with both facilities to open to the public at 3pm Monday, 10 November.

Gannawarra Shire Council, which manages both facilities, has spent the past few months getting ready for what is predicted to be a bumper season.

“Last season more than 32,000 people visited the Cohuna and Kerang outdoor pools, and we anticipate a similar number to make the most of both facilities this season,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.

“During the past two months we have been preparing both pools for the season, including maintaining the swimming pools and beautifying the surrounds. Our dedicated outdoor swimming pool lifeguard team members have also been undertaking training, ensuring they are ready for the influx of visitors.”

As part of Council’s efforts to maximise service availability and staffing, revised opening hour arrangements will be in place this season. These arrangements are:

  • Monday, 10 November to Sunday, 30 November: Open 3pm-7pm daily.
  • Monday, 1 December to Friday, 19 December: Open 3pm-7pm weekdays and 11am-7pm weekends.
  • Saturday, 20 December to Saturday, 31 January: Open 11am-7pm daily.
  • Sunday, 1 February to Saturday, 28 February: Open 3pm-7pm weekdays and 11am-7pm weekends.
  • Sunday, 1 March to Monday, 9 March: Open 3pm-7pm daily.

Both swimming pools will also be open 12 noon-7pm on Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Australia Day and the Labour Day public holiday, but closed on Christmas Day.

“Residents are advised that the Cohuna and Kerang swimming pools will be closed on days the Bureau of Meteorology website’s forecast temperature for either Cohuna or Kerang is 23 degrees Celsius or lower,” Mr Rollinson said.

“Any changes to opening times, including during instances of inclement weather, will be publicised via Council’s Facebook page.”

Season passes are now available to purchase from the Cohuna and Kerang Customer Service Centres, or from either pool during the season.
