Numerous changes to Gannawarra Shire Council’s services will be in place on Thursday, 22 September for the National Day of Mourning for Her Majesty The Queen.

With a public holiday declared, all of Council’s services – including Customer Service Centres, Gannawarra Library Service branches, the Gannawarra Shire Children’s Centre and the Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre – will be closed.

“The National Day of Mourning will enable residents across the Gannawarra to join fellow Australians to pause and reflect on Her Majesty The Queen’s amazing life,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

Council’s services, including Customer Service Centres, Gannawarra Library Service branches, transfer stations and the Gannawarra Shire Children’s Centre, will also be closed on Friday, 23 September for the AFL Grand Final Eve Public Holiday. The Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre will be open from 10am to 1pm.

Council’s Community Care team will only be providing essential services on both days, with no home care or property maintenance services occurring.

“Anyone who experiences Council-related emergencies, including animal/livestock matters, on either day are encouraged to Council’s on-call service on 0409 022 920,” Mr O’Reilly said.

“Any problems or issues that require further investigation by Council can be reported at any time by visiting www.gsc.vic.gov.au/request.”
