Gannawarra Shire Council would like to thank residents for their acceptance of the revised Question Time provisions that were first used at the March Ordinary Council Meeting.

“Six people took the opportunity to submit questions during Question Time at the March Ordinary Council meeting, with 14 of the 16 questions submitted dealt with on the night,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.

“The two questions that could not be answered on the night were taken on notice, and the information provided to those who submitted the questions within two days of the meeting.

“The nature of questions submitted are detailed in the minutes from the meeting, which can be downloaded by visiting www.gsc.vic.gov.au/meetings.”

Residents are reminded that questions must be submitted on a Question Time form, which are available online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/QuestionTime, at the Kerang and Cohuna Customer Service Centres and in the Council Chamber foyer prior to each Ordinary Council meeting.

Question Time forms must be submitted in the Question Time box, located in the Council Chamber, before the meeting commences, with the person submitting question required to be in attendance.

“The Question Time form will provide people with guidance regarding how to frame questions to ensure greater clarity and a sufficient response from Council,” Mayor Learmonth said.

Meanwhile, the March Ordinary Council Meeting was the first meeting that Council implemented measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

“The seating capacity within the public gallery was reduced to ensure the social distancing of attendees, with this measure to be in place until further notice,” Mayor Learmonth said.

“Council encourages residents to continue to attend any of Council’s Ordinary Meetings, and will advise the community if arrangements change.”
