The Cohuna and Kerang outdoor swimming pools will open for the 2020/21 season on Monday, 16 November at 3pm.

Both facilities, managed by Gannawarra Shire Council, are being prepared for what is anticipated to be a busy summer period, with COVIDsafe measures to be in place at both venues.

“A dedicated team of 33 lifeguards and team leaders are preparing for the coming season and are looking forward to helping make your visit to our outdoor pools an enjoyable one,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“Council continues to monitor COVID-19 measures in place to protect residents at this time, with arrangements regarding attendance limits and hygiene practices to be confirmed prior to the start of the season.”

General admission charges remain at $4.50 for adults, $3.50 for children aged four to 17 years and $3.00 for pensioners, with children aged three years and under able to enter for free. Activities on offer at both venues, including water slides and the Kerang Splash Park, are free to use as part of the entry fee to each pool.

“Entry admission costs for both of these pools continue to be as low as possible to ensure these venues are accessible and well used by the community during the hottest part of the year,” Mr O’Reilly said.

Both venues will operate from 3pm to 7pm during November, with the traditional summer opening hours of 10am to 8pm coming into effect from Tuesday, 1 December and be in place until Sunday, 28 February 2021.

Operating hours will revert back to 3pm to 7pm Monday, 1 March 2021, with the season to end at 7pm on Sunday, 14 March 2021.

The 2020/21 season will also see a revised Weather Temperature Policy implemented. Outdoor pools will be closed on days the Bureau of Meteorology website’s forecast temperature for either town is 23 degrees Celsius or lower.

These closures, as well as changes to operating hours due to inclement weather, high winds or storm events, will be publicised via Council’s Facebook page – www.facebook.com/gannawarra.
