LGPro Award Finalists
Media Release
Gannawarra Shire Council has been announced as finalist in three (3) separate categories of the LGPro 2019 Awards for Excellence.
Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said Council is honoured to be named as a finalist in the awards.
“The LGPro Awards for Excellence promote and celebrate the outstanding work undertaken and delivered by individuals and teams working in Victorian Councils,” said Mayor Learmonth.
“We are honoured to be selected as finalist in categories including Innovative Management Initiative, Sustainability Initiative and Community Assets and Infrastructure Initiative $2m and under.”
Council is nominated in The Innovative Management Initiative category for
Gannawarra Shared Services
which saw Gannawarra Shire Council share resources to assist Buloke Shire Council to set up the Confirm asset maintenance management system within its organisation. This involved Gannawarra Shire’s GIS Assets Officer, spending two days per week for nine months on site at Buloke Shire Council.
In the Sustainability Initiative Category Council was selected for
Sustainable Gannawarra
which focuses on Council’s sustainable practices of bulk solar installations, retrofitting lighting to LED, installation of HVAC timers on and in Council-owned buildings, changing 80W mercury vapour streetlights to an LED alternative and for waste services including the introduction of a greenwaste collection, increasing the recycling rate and further diverting waste from landfill.
“The Victoria Square Upgrade Project which encompassed the comprehensive renewal of the streetscape in the heart of the Kerang CBD was selected in the Community Assets and Infrastructure $2m and Under Initiative Category,” Mayor Learmonth added.
Winners of the LGPro 2019 Awards for Excellence will be announced on Thursday, February 21, 2019.
