Koondrook CBD works complete

Residents and visitors to Koondrook are already benefiting from the completion of the second stage of the town’s CBD redevelopment.
A realigned section of Main Street re-opened to traffic on Friday, 5 July, marking the end of four months of works that aims to provide better links between the town’s CBD and Koondrook Wharf- Apex Park precinct.
“The completed works involved increasing the nature strip in front of the public toilets opposite Apex Park and improving pedestrian access between the former Koondrook tram station and the Koondrook Wharf,” Mayor Lorraine Learmonth said.
“These works have also enhanced the connectivity, reliability, safety and efficiency of the road network for the local community.”
The second stage of the CBD redevelopment followed on from the upgrading of kerb and channel along Arbuthnot and Main streets, completed earlier this year.
“Stage 1 and 2 of the Koondrook CBD redevelopment are part of a larger plan to connect the Koondrook Nature Based Tourism Hub to the township,” Mayor Learmonth said.
“Stage 3 of the Koondrook CBD redevelopment will achieve this goal, with works on this section to begin soon.
“Council thanks the community for its patience whilst these improvements occur.”
The first two stages of the Koondrook CBD redevelopment were made possible thanks to funding from the Regional Roads Victoria Fixing Country Roads program.
