The Gannawarra Library Service will celebrate Harmony Day next week with a special Story Time session.

A morning of stories, songs, rhymes and lullabies will be held at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library on Thursday, 21 March at 11am.

“The Gannawarra Library Service’s Story Time program is a fun and sharing time where children and their caregivers can establish a love of books and reading,” Gannawarra Library Service Manager, Kerri Sidorow said.

“Harmony Day promotes the inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background.”

The morning’s program will include the reading of Rafael Lopez’s book, We’ve Got the Whole World in Our Hands and the singing of songs in different languages.

“Those in attendance will learn how to sing Heads and Shoulders in Dutch, One Duck in Vietnamese and Go to Sleep, Go to Sleepy in Italian, as well as join in a rendition of the Australian classic Happy Little Vegemites,” Mrs Sidorow said.

“Those attending are encouraged to come dressed in clothes that celebrate different cultures to add to the fun of the day.”

For more information about the event, please phone the Gannawarra Library Service on (03) 5452 1546.
