The noting of the 2019/20 Financial Statements and the 2020 Annual Report highlighted Gannawarra Shire Council’s October Meeting.

Held in the Kerang Council Chambers in accordance with the State Government’s COVID-19 Omnibus (Emergency Measures) Act 2020, the meeting was the last to occur in the current Council term.

The two key matters discussed focused on major annual documents – the 2020 Financial Statements, 2020 Performance Statement and 2020 Annual Report – which were all acknowledged in principle.

The 2020 Financial Statements and Performance Statement, present the financial position of the Council as at 30 June 2020, with the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office (VAGO) to review the ‘in principle’ statements to finalise the formal annual audit process.

The 2020 Financial Statements and Performance Statement will also feature in the final version of Council’s 2020 Annual Report that will be submitted to the Minister for Local Government before 30 November 2020.

A four-minute video highlighting Council’s achievements accompanied the presentation of the 2020 Annual Report, with the statistics and images featured in the video also appearing in the report.

Councillors also received an update regarding progress on projects outlined in Council’s Sport and Recreation Strategy 2019-2029.

Adopted in May 2019, the strategy shapes the decision making and investment in sport and recreation facilities and programs for the next 10 years, with an action plan involving High Priority (28 actions), Medium Priority (five actions) and Other projects (43 actions) developed. Fifteen of these actions have already been completed, with a further 16 actions currently underway.
