2021 Australia Day Award nominations close 30 November

Time is running out to nominate outstanding Gannawarra Shire Council residents for the 2021 Australia Day Awards, with nominations closing at 9am on Monday, 30 November 2020.

A highlight of Australia Day celebrations throughout the Gannawarra, the awards recognise the contribution residents make to their communities.

“Council thanks those who have taken the time so far to nominate residents for these prestigious awards,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.

“Council’s Australia Day Awards provide a fitting opportunity to give worthy recognition to people from across the Gannawarra, who devote their time and efforts to make their community a better place.

“Previous winners have all demonstrated a commitment to the groups and organisations they are a part of. The 2020 Citizen of the Year, Leo Parker has served his community for more than 40 years, whilst the Young Citizen of the Year, Mitchell Gross is well regarded in Quambatook for helping out in the community when needed.”

Nominations are sought for the following award categories:

• Citizen of the Year
• Young Citizen of the Year (for residents aged 15-24 years of age on Tuesday, 26 January 2021).

“If you know of someone who is a valued contributor to their community, please take the time between now and 9am on 30 November to submit a nomination form,” Mr O’Reilly said.

Nomination forms are available online at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/Australia_Day_Awards, with award winners to be announced during Australia Day celebrations occurring throughout the Gannawarra.
