Gannawarra Shire Council is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2019 Australia Day Awards.

The Australia Day Awards are unique in that they give every person the opportunity to nominate a fellow citizen who has made an outstanding contribution to their community.

Mayor Brian Gibson said many residents and organisations worked tirelessly for their communities.

‘‘We are looking for dedicated volunteers, passionate community advocates and outstanding role models,’’ said Mayor Gibson.

‘‘Communities like ours are successful because of the hard work, innovation and generosity of individuals and community organisations, and these people deserve to be recognised.’’

“Help us to award individuals you believe are worthy of recognition for their commitment to making the Gannawarra Shire a great place to live and work.”

Council is seeking nominations in the following categories:
• Citizen of the Year Award
• Young Citizen of the Year Award (15-24 years on 26 January 2019)

The awards will be announced and presented on Australia Day at events held throughout the Gannawarra Shire.

Entries will close on Monday December 3, 2018 at 9am.
