Residents from across the Gannawarra will unite on Wednesday, 27 May to recognise and celebrate National Reconciliation Week.
Proceedings will begin at 10am with a flag raising ceremony outside the Kerang Council Building in Victoria Street, before community members and local leaders come together for the Reconciliation Walk to The Glasshouse.
From 10.25am, The Glasshouse will host a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country, followed by storytelling, cultural sharing activities, and the announcement of winners from the National Reconciliation Week poster colouring competition.
Following the formal proceedings, attendees are invited to enjoy a free morning tea. Activities will continue with schools participating in National Simultaneous Storytime celebrations and a Kerang Soccer Club clinic from 11.30am.
Gannawarra’s National Reconciliation Week celebrations are proudly supported by Council, the Kerang Elders and Leaders Group, Northern District Community Health, Mallee District Aboriginal Service, Kerang District Health, Cohuna District Hospital, and Victoria Police.
